Smith Mathews is the Founder, Brewmaster and Managing Member of Southbound Brewing Co. Smith got his start in college working for SweetWater Brewing Co doing everything from packaging to marketing events. After graduating from Georgia Tech, he attended the Siebel Institute of Technology where he received a degree in Brewing Science and Technology. Smith later returned to SweetWater as a Brewer. After finishing his MBA from Georgia Southern University, Smith and his good friend Carly headed to Savannah to open Southbound, where he’s been making delicious beers since!
Pratt Mathews joined Southbound Brewing Company in January 2015 with a degree in Business Administration and Marketing. Pratt began home brewing while in college. He enjoys all aspects of his job, from brewing to working with distributors in order to make and distribute the best quality craft beer in the southeast. Pratt’s hobbies include tinkering with vintage cars and fishing.
Jeremy joined the Southbound team in 2015 as a taproom ambassador and has since worked his way up to Lead Brewer.
Natalie made her way to the South after falling in love with Savannah and received her BFA in Advertising Design at SCAD. By the love of beer, beach and hippy jam bands, she found her way into the home of Southbound in 2015. Join her for a pint or plan your next event with her sometime... and keep your eyes peeled, she’s a tiny one.
Andy was born & raised in the Greater Brew City area (Milwaukee, WI) and recently found his way down to Georgia with his new, small family to enjoy Savannah history, heat and happy life. He enjoys delicious coffee and Dick’s Picks, classic literature & beer picnics. If you’re looking to grab a cold one or two with this husband, father, brother and man still undefeated in Monopoly, bring him all the Berliner Weisse. Though more likely, he’ll bring you guys something from his fridge.
Maggie MacMillan is a Georgia native with over 13 years of experience in the hospitality & community health industry. She holds a Bachelors degree in Public Health Sciences with a minor in Epidemiology from Armstrong Atlantic State University in Savannah, as well as accreditations such as Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES), Certified Beer Server by Cicerone, and recently completed Wine & Spirit Education Trust Level II. As a self proclaimed travel enthusiast, Maggie has visited 17 countries while working in Germany & Costa Rica. While living in Bavaria, she discovered her passion for the beer making process and the social well being that comes with local brewing culture. She settled in Charleston, SC in 2014 and worked in on premise beer & wine sales for Breakthru Beverage distributors. She stays busy by trying new beers, playing with her two dogs, learning the didgeridoo, seeing live music, and testing recipes for her boyfriend's food truck business.
Born and raised in Ohio, Amanda attended the University of Cincinnati where she met her husband, Jason, and earned a bachelor's degree in special education. She has been a resident of Savannah for 9 years and has worked in the craft beer/service industry for the last 4 years. When Amanda isn't at the brewery, she can be found at Dancing Dogs Yoga, out on her kayak, spending time with her dogs, or catching a live show. Wherever you find her, she'll gladly share a cold brew or two with you.
Originally from a small town in Ohio made his way to Savannah, GA in 2010. Yes, another Ohio person that moved to Savannah. By day he is a teacher and has been working part time as a brand ambassador and bar tender for the tap room since the summer 2014.
Loye joined the Southbound team as our Head Lab Tech in 2018.
Randy joined the Southbound team as Bar Manager in 2018.
Brew Cat came to us from the local shelter and slowly crawled into our hearts as Southbound's full time security and pest control. Although he's cute, he's clawed and dangerous. He's got a job to do that he takes pretty seriously!
